Salwan Boys hammer DAV, Punjab
An all-round display by Nitin Tanwar (67, 3/18) helped Salwan Boys Senior Secondary School, Delhi, beat DAV Senior Secondary School, Punjab, by 128 runs in the Coca-Cola Cricket Cup U-16 inter-state tournament at the Vikaspuri grounds in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Batting first, Salwan Boys posted 261/8 in 45 overs, Tanwar and Shivam Chauhan (63) leading the way. DAV’s Abhinav Sharma took three wickets and Karan Kanojia and Shivam two each.
In reply, DAV collapsed to 133 in 36.2 overs and only Navneet (31) provided some resistance.
Tanwar was named the man of the match.
In another match, a splendid century by Mahboob Shaikh of Anjuman I-Islam Allana English School, Mumbai, in 70 balls helped them score 283 in 45 overs. Sree Valmeeki High School of Andhra Pradesh in reply were shot out for 88 in 35.5 overs, leaving the Mumbai school winners by a massive 195 runs.
In the day’s third game, man of the match Harsh Sharma from CAV Inter College, Allahabad, took three wickets in their 10-wicket victory over Navrachna School of Baroda.
Navrachna were shot out for 76 in 35.4 overs which CAV chased down in just 7.1 overs.
