Sand art salute for Deccan Chargers
As one enters the Mayfair Lagoon hotel where the teams are housed here, a deft handiwork made out of sand greets you.
The work, carved by Sudam Pradhan, highlights the two teams — Deccan Chargers and Kolkata Knight Riders — that would fight it out in the middle at Cuttack on Sunday. “It is my way of welcoming the two sides.
I have always be a fan of the Chargers and will continue to support them. All it requires is a win to boost their morale.
I am sure they will triumph over the Knights on Sunday, and gain the momentum,” said Sudam while speaking to this newspaper on Friday.
Sudam, who has showcased his work both in India and abroad, took about three hours to complete the work. “I started at around 3 in the morning on Friday, and by 6 it was ready,” he said.
The 28-year-old is also part of a couple of art schools in Puri — the Sudam School of Sand Art and the School of Fine Art. “I have about 115 students who are learning this art,” he said.
