SBT thrash Muthoot to emerge champs
State Bank of Travancore crushed Muthoot Yamaha MCC by 10 wickets to be crowned champions of the 31st Coromandel Cement Cricket Tournament at Ambalamugal on Saturday.
The bankmen used their experience to great effect and took a healthy 62-run lead in the first innings before restricting Muthoot to 139 in their second innings, there by setting themselves a target of 78 runs. For SBT, Jagadeesh scalped 3 for 21. Akshay Bilal top-scored for Muthoot with 40 runs.
All-rounder Sony Cheruv-athur slammed a 29-ball 45 as SBT achieved the target losing no wickets, in just 12.1 overs. Opener Sachin Mohan remained unbeaten on 33.
SBT’s V. A. Jagadeesh was adjudged the best batsman of the tournament while Perumbavoor’s Arjun Raj and Chittoor’s Adarsh took the awards for best bowler and promising cricketer respectively.
