Aug. 5: If India are seeing a glimmer of hope in the third Test, it is only thanks to some resolute batting from tail-enders Abhimanyu Mithun and Amit Mishra.

Coming together when the pendulum was decidedly leaning the Lankan way, the eighth-wicket stand was a worthy effort. Where every run counted, the 64-run association altered the game. “It was a good partnership and a very important one, at one stage we were 350 for seven and after that, Mithun and Mishra batted really well. They were responsible for us getting the lead, full credit to the tail-enders for guiding us to the lead,” said Sehwag.

Not taking credit for his all-round show, Sehwag said: “I am lucky to have scored a hundred and get those two wickets. A target in the region of 200 will be attainable in the fourth innings. Hopefully we will do well tomorrow also and try to win the match,” said Sehwag.

Pragyan Ojha and Sehwag infused confidence by bowling in the right areas. “If we get Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara early, then I think we will be in the game,” Sehwag said.

Umpire Rod Tucker has been having a poor match with some wrong decisions but Sehwag stressed that it would be a part of the game but technology should be used when it’s available. “It happens in cricket. Sometimes the umpire does get it wrong. I would love to have the referral system in both forms of the game,” he said.
