Spot-fix cash linked to players?
The International Cricket Council chief executive and ACSU chief both refused to confirm if the Metropolitan police had informed them about the reported recovery of cash from Pakistani players linking them to a British businessman.
“We are in very close contact with colleagues in the Met police in charge of the investigation, but we cannot disclose any details they have shared with us as the criminal investigation is ongoing,” said Sir Ronnie Flanagan, the head of ICC’s anti-corruption and security unit.
The Scotland Yard investigation has connected the cash trail from the News of the World to the businessman and to a Pakistani cricketer, according to reports in British newspapers. The money was found among the belongings of the cricketer in his hotel room and locker at Lord’s, according to the Sun and Daily Mail.
However, there has been no confirmation of this either by the Met police or the International Cricket Council.
