Spot fixing: Ankeet Chavan back in judicial Custody
Ankeet Chavan, one of the three disgraced Royals' cricketers who was arrested for allegedly colluding with bookiesin and indulging in spot fixing has been remanded back to judicial custody. The cricketer's interim bail ended today. Chavan had been granted bail so that he could go back to his hometown to get married on the second of June (Sunday).
The 27-year old, an accused in the T20 spot-fixing scandal, married IT consultant Neha Sambari, who was his girlfriend for eight years. Left-arm spinner Chavan is currently suspended by the Cricket Board and was in the judicial custody after being arrested on the charges of spot-fixing.
He was given conditional bail by a Delhi court till June 6 for his marriage.
In an ironical twist of fate, Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra has reportedly confessed to placing bets on matches played by his team. Reports of Shilpa Shetty's alleged involvement in betting have also emerged.
