Sreesanth keen on playing at home against england
Kochi will host a day-and-night match in the India-England ODI Series at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium on January 15.
It will be the second match in the five-match series, which starts at Rajkot on January 11 and only the eighth ODI to be held in the port city.
The last ODI at the venue was between India and Australia, which however was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain. England last played in Kochi on April 6, 2006, losing to India by 4 wickets.
The Organising committee for the ODI match was inaugurated in Kochi on Thursday and the function was attended by pace bowler S. Sreesanth.
The Kochi-based speedster who is recovering from operations to his toes said he expects to be match fit by early October.
“I hope to be available for selection before the England series. I am recovering fast and wish to be back in full swing when an ODI happens in my hometown,” said Sreesanth.
