Sreesanth match-fit, hopes to be in team by Dec
Shantakumaran Sreesanth gets mobbed by fans even when he isn’t dancing on/off the pitch. It wasn’t any surprise to find the young and the old alike craving for a picture with Sree, who arrived home after undergoing surgery to his toes, in Germany.
The talented speedster known for his moody on-field conduct never shied away from fans who crowded round him for autographs, at a function held in Kochi. Much to their delight Sree said he would be back on track by December this year.
“The operation was successful and now I can walk fine. In fact I’m wearing a shoe nearly after four weeks. Also, I’ve started practise and am hoping to be ready for national duty by the beginning of next year”, said Sree.
He last played for the men-in-blue in the fourth test against England at Oval in August, 2011. Though he bowled for Kerala in a Ranji Trophy match in November, the swelling on both toes had kept the bowler at bay ever since.
Sreesanth who was signed by Rajasthan Royals for the recent IPL season, however, did not play for Rahul Dravid’s side for fear of his condition worsening.
“It’s a challenge to make a comeback, but I have resumed practise, though in a mild way. I hope to be match fit by October and should be up for selection in December. I badly want to get back to the Indian team,” he said.
