Starlet caught in Sunday Times match-fixing claim is not even an actress, DC reveals

The woman allegedly involved in the latest cricket match fixing scandal is NOT a Bollywood actress.

Nupur Mehta is a small-time model, a top police officer has revealed and further inquiries confirmed that she has not acted in any movies.

Officials, believe, she must have introduced herself as an actress.

Mehta has meanwhile, denied involvement in match fixing.

Britain's The Sunday Times has claimed tens of thousands of pounds were being offered to players to throw international matches. This included the World Cup semi-final between India and Pakistan last year. The paper said 'a Bollywood starlet' was used to lure Pakistani players to underperform.

The report carried a picture of Mehta, with the face blurred, wearing a green sequin bikini.

"All these allegations are false. I am not involved in this I can never think about match fixing. My pictures have been used without my permission by Sunday Times," Nupur told reporters in Mumbai.

"I am upset... I was at my home watching the match and not at Mohali during the India-Pakistan match," she added, speaking in Lokhandwala near Infinity Mall.

She has also threatened to take legal action against the British daily.

"I intend to take action against them."

Nupur said cricket had always been associated with Bollywood.
