Struggling Marsh admits time running out for him

Struggling Australian batsman Shaun Marsh has conceded that time is running out for him and he has to score runs in the fourth and final Test against India to retain his place in the side.

Marsh scored just 14 runs from the four innings he played in the three Tests of the four-match series which includes two ducks.

Marsh, who has been selected for the fourth Test starting in Adelaide on January 24, has been released to play in the Twenty20 Big Bash League for the Perth Scorchers on Wednesday.

"It's been frustrating not being able to contribute to the team. You don't get too many chances to play Test cricket so I know my chances are running out," he said.

In front of a vocal home crowd in his debut Test in Perth, and against a demoralised Indian attack that had just been blasted by David Warner, the timing was perfect for a big score from Marsh. But, the 28-year-old fell to a fired up Umesh Yadav.

"I did feel I missed out. But that's the way it goes. I can't change what's happened now. I've just got to try to rectify it.

"I was probably a little bit anxious in my first few Test matches (back in the side) and I wasn't myself. I sort of felt that come back in Perth. I know it was only a brief time but hopefully I can build on that now. I've just got to try to turn it around," he was quoted as saying by the local media.
