T-JAC submits memorandum
Hyderabad, Dec. 4: The Telangana Cricket Joint Action Committee on Saturday submitted a list of demands to Hyderabad Cricket Association president Arshad Ayub and threatened to go on a relay hunger strike and undertake protests during Hyderabad’s upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Madhya Pradesh starting on December 8 if the issues are not resolved.
Reiterating their demand to create 119 clubs — one for each assembly constituency in the Telangana region — and providing them voting rights in HCA elections, the JAC pressed for inclusion of players from Telangana in the junior state sides.
Alleging that non-Telanganites have intruded the HCA, which is meant for Telangana districts, the JAC sought an amendment to the HCA constitution to contain the intrusion and for opening opportunities for officials from Telangana.
Among other demands are setting up of cricket academies in every district of Telangana; appointment of Telangana coaches for all age group sides; and seeking a police or vigilance inquiry in the suspected replacement of the original Moin-ud-Dowla Gold Cup, weighing three kilograms, with a fake one.
