Team India in pub brawl with fans?
The Indian cricket team’s troubles haven’t ended with their crashing out of the Twenty20 World Cup, with some reports suggesting that a few of the players were involved in a pub brawl here, even though Yuvraj Singh dismissed these claims.
The reports said that six Indian cricketers had gone to a local pub, Tequila Joe’s, on Wednesday night, where the team’s fans started taunting and abusing them for their failure to reach the semi-finals of the Twenty20 World Cup.
Pacer Ashish Nehra and Zaheer Khan apparently lost their cool and got into a confrontation with the fans, and Yuvraj had to intervene to calm down his teammates, the reports claimed.
Yuvraj himself, however, has denied the reports. “There was no fight, not even an argument,” Yuvraj wrote on his Twitter page, asking the media not to “make up stories”.
Harbhajan Singh, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina were also reportedly present on the occasion, it was claimed.
The Indian team under Mahendra Singh Dhoni could not win a single match at the Super Eight stage, and finally crashed out with a defeat against Sri Lanka that left legions of their fans hugely disappointed. —PTI
