Team Maruti triumph

The 6th Manav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge 2013 concluded at the Manav Rachna International University in Faridabad on Saturday, with Team Maruti Suzuki emerging the winners beating Team TCS in the final. Former India skipper and member of parliament Mohammed Azharuddin awarded the teams with the prizes.

The final match between Maruti Suzuki and TCS was a cliff-hanger with the former prevailing by one run to clinch the title. Maruti Suzuki restricted their opponents to 179 from their allotted 12 overs after scoring 180 batting first.
“Our team performed consistently well throughout the tournament which has paved way towards lifting the cup. The facilities provided at the university were excellent and the crowd was very warm and supportive.
“I will look forward to this tournament. I extend my gratitude to Manav Rachna International University for creating a platform that has not only helped us understand the importance to work as a unit but has also helped us interact with talented students at the campus, who we look forward to work along with, professionally as well,” Gagan of Team Maruti, who was adjudged the best batsman of the tournament said.
The event saw participation of 25 teams over 10 weeks — from January 12 to March 30 — and was played on a league-cum-knockout basis at the campus grounds in Faridabad.
Said Azharuddin, “All the teams that have participated in the tournament are winners in true sense. This tournament has brought forth cricketing talent. Manav Rachna International University through its world class teaching methodology and initiatives like these has been continuously making great contributions in the field of education and sports.”
The event has run successfully for the past six years and enjoys support from some of the leading corporate houses in the country.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
