Teams land, set for practice today
Hyderabad, Nov. 9: A day after dishing out exciting action in the first Test at Ahmedabad, the Indian and New Zealand teams arrived in Hyderabad on Tuesday for the second game of the three-match series that begins at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium here on Friday.
Having touched down in the afternoon, both teams preferred to stay indoors and did not practice.
They are scheduled to turn up for training sessions at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday. The New Zealanders would hold a session in the morning while Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s men would sweat it out in the afternoon.
However, fans at the airport who hoped to catch a glimpse of Sachin Tendulkar were disappointed as the Master Blaster did not turn up along with the team. He is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday.
Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and coach Gary Kirsten will also join the team on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, according to Hyderabad Cricket Association officials, the ticket sales for the match have been brisk. They could not give out accurate figures but informed that the fans were eager to book seats given the widespread anticipation of Tendulkar’s 50 century.
