Telefunken Club triumph
Telefunken Club beat Air India by five wickets in the final to clinch the 17th Sahibzada Ajit Singh cricket tournament in the capital on Wednesday. Deepak Khatri (70) and Priyank Tehlan (69) played handy knocks as Telefunken made it a one-sided affair as they chased down the 225-run target in just 28 overs.
Batting first, Air India posted 224/8 in their allotted 40 overs riding on Dhruv Shorey’s 62 and Delhi Ranji player Rajat Bhatia’s 45. However, Ankit Dabas (3/35) and Nitin Yadav (3/60) struck at regular intervals to keep a check on the scoring.
In reply, Telefunken batsmen attacked from the very beginning as they tore apart the Air India bowling attack. Only Akshit Gomel (3/51) had some impact on Telefunken batsmen but his effort was overshadowed by Khatri and Tehlan’s knocks.
The winning team pocketed `1 lakh while Air India took home `51,000. Dabas was named the best batsman while Gomel and his teammate Hiten Dalal were adjudged the best bowler and all-rounder respectively.
