Telefunken, PMG seal semis spots
PMG Blue beat Sporting Club by 41 runs on Thursday to enter the semi-finals of the Sharma Sports U-16 cricket tournament. Man of the match Manoj Mahela (63) played a handy knock for the winners and the bowlers, led by Nikhil Chaudhary (4/4), sent the chase off track.
PMG posted 130 in 27.4 overs batting first with Mahela and Ashutosh Mishra (30) emerging the top scorers. Sporting Club’s chase failed to take off with Chaudhary striking at regular intervals. He was well supported by Shoaib Khan (2/25) as the Sporting Club innings finished in the 26th over at 89.
In another quarter-final on Wednesday, Telefunken Club edged past Vidya Jain Academy by 31 runs on the basis of a better run rate in a rain-affected match.
Telefunken had posted 168/9 in 30 overs with Aman Sharma contributing a well-made 65.
Vidya Jain Academy were 72/6 when rain stopped play. After the rain showed no signs of stopping, the match was awarded to Telefunken on the basis on a better run rate.
