Thought my career was over: Ryder
Wellington, Aug. 8: Troubled all-rounder Jesse Ryder on Sunday said that he feared for his career when the New Zealand Cricket Board was looking into the charges of his recent off-field incident involving alcohol.
Ryder, who turned 26 on Friday, admitted on Saturday that his drunk and noisy behaviour drew complaints at a hotel where he was staying. “It went on for quite a while as New Zealand Cricket was investigating what actually happened. I was actually thinking that this could have been it for me. But luckily they’ve given me one last chance,” Ryder said.
Ryder’s behaviour had disappointed the NZC bosses and they had actually contemplated to rip up his recent offer for a central contract. However, they decided to give him a last chance because of his attitude in recent months.
But if Ryder is found guilty in yet another off-field incident involving alcohol, NZC won’t be in too minds in ripping up his contract.
