Trott century takes England to 221/2 at lunch
Jonathon Trott struck a centuryas England piled on 221 for two at lunch to extend their lead to 408 runs on the fourth and final day of their warm-up game against Haryana here today.
Trott, overnight 61, retired after scoring 101 to give batting practice to his other colleagues in England's final tour game before the first Test begins here on November 15.
Wicket-keeper Matt Prior, however, did not last long as he was run out for just two of the third ball he faced.
The other batsman out was opener Nick Compton (79), who added 25 runs to his overnight score of 54 before being out of the bowling of Sachin Rana midway into the morning session.
At the break, Ian Bell was batting on 32 with the help of five fours from 43 balls and Tim Bresnan was giving him company without opening his account after England resumed the day at 118 for no loss.
Trott, who hit 13 fours and a six in his 183-ball stay at the crease before making way for another batsman, put on 44 more runs today with Compton and 162 runs in total for the opening wicket before the latter was out.
England added 103 runs in 26 overs in the morning session at a healthy run rate of just a fraction less than four per over. England have faced 64 overs so far in their second innings.
Haryana bowlers had to toil hard for the second time in the match, having allowed England to pile on 521 in the visitors' first innings.
Sachin Rana was the only successful bowler as he took the wicket of Compton.
England were ahead by 188 runs in the first innings.
