Troubled Panesar to leave Sussex
England spinner Monty Panesar, who was contracted with the Sussex County Cricket Club, will be leaving the club at the end of the season days after being fined by the police earlier this month for allegedly urinating on bouncers of a club in Brighton.
The 31-year-old had been given a fixed penalty notice by the police after being seen urinating in public on August 5. Sussex decided to release the Indian-origin left-arm spinner after it completed an investigation into the incident.
“Sussex County Cricket Club can confirm that Monty Panesar will be allowed to leave the club at the end of the 2013 season. The club’s investigation into the recent incident, which took place on Monday, August 5, has been concluded and both parties have reached an agreement. He will become a free agent as on Friday September 27, 2013,” the club said in a statement.
