Tweaked code to take effect in Aug.
The International Cricket Council executive board on Thursday said it had approved a tweaked Anti-Doping Code with minor amendments to the “whereabouts” clause.
The new code will come into effect from August 1, 2010, although the changes made to the contentious clause haven’t yet been made public. The code’s adoption was delayed after the objections were raised by the Board of Comtrol for Cricket in India on behalf of its cricketers.
“I am satisfied that we have now resolved the long outstanding issue of filing whereabouts information and the contribution of the BCCI in finding a solution needs to be acknowledged,” ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat said in Singapore. “This is a complex area for players and administrators.”
The ICC had become a signatory of the Wada back in 2006, but the Indian cricketers refused to sign it, saying that the whereabouts clause of the code, which required them to inform Wada of their daily location at the start of every quarter, infringed their privacy.
Sri Lanka to host 2012 World T20
The ICC has, meanwhile, awarded the next two World Twenty20 tournaments in 2012 and 2014 to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh respectively, while England will host the Champions Trophy in 2013.
The 2015 World Cup will be held by Australia and New Zealand and the 2013 women’s World Cup will be played in India.
The decisions came after a meeting of the ICC executive board in Singapore on Thursday.
