Vettori wants to end losing streak
Baroda, Dec. 4: It looks like the series is only getting worse for Daniel Vettori and his men. They haven’t tasted success in the last 11 ODIs (nine losses, one washed out game and one abandoned) and the Kiwi skipper is waiting for that one match which will stop their slide.
“We are trying hard to win matches. Every time we play, our aim to win matches for New Zealand. But it hasn’t been happening for quite some time now. It is all about one guy having a good day and scoring a century. So we should cash in on the opportunities that we get,” said the left-arm spinner.
He also said that it was important to get a few victories under the belt before the game’s biggest extravaganza — the World Cup — begins in the sub-continent early next year.
“It is more about confidence, which is not great at this point of time after the losses in the past couple of months. It is all about one victory and hopefully it will happen in the next two games,” he said.
He also said that the Kiwis were trying hard to snap their losing streak, but they had found the going tough in Indian conditions.
“First of all, conditions here are tough. As we saw in the morning there was a bit of dampness and the spinners were getting turn. Obviously batting in the morning was not that easy,” said Vettori.
