Vidya Jain ease to Schools Cup title
Vidya Jain Public School of Rohini won the 1st Fast Trax Daredevils Schools Cup Twenty20 cricket tournament with a facile four-wicket victory over Kulachi Hansraj Model School in the final, held at the Jamia Millia grounds in the capital on Tuesday.
Chasing 108, Vidya Jain Public School rode on the effective methods of the second-wicket pair of Ayush Kharab (35, 40b) and Vivek Rana (23, 28b) to overhaul the target in 18.1 overs.
Though Kulachi Hansraj’s Vikas Dixit (4/17) created some tense moments for the Vidya Jain Public School batsmen, the latter ran out winners with 11 deliveries to spare.
Earlier, Kulachi Hansraj posted 107/7 in 20 overs. Hiten Dalal smashed a half-century only to see his efforts go in vain.
For the winners, Harsh Awasthi was the pick of the bowlers with 3/15.
While Awasthi was named the Daredevil of the match, Dalal was honoured as the Daredevil of the series.
Scores: Kulachi Hansraj Model School 107/7 in 20 overs (Hiten Dalal 50, Kushan Harjai 22; Harsh Awasthi 3/15, Jitesh Dagar 2/16) lost to Vidya Jain Public School 108/6 in 18.1 overs (Ayush Kharab 35, Vivek Rana 23; Vikas Dixit 4/17).
