We will come good against Royals: Smith
Mumbai Indians opener Dwayne Smith has had got some starts in the IPL this season but his inability to finish games for his side has been weighing on his mind and the West Indian said he wouldlook to do his part against Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier 2 at the Eden Gardens here on Friday.
“Well yes, it’s frustrating. I think I got starts five-six times but didn’t carry on and got out on careless shots. But I take every game as it comes and I am looking forward to doing my part in tomorrow’s game,” Smith said here on the match eve.
Veteran batsman Sachin Tendulkar is doubtful because of a wrist injury and Smith revealed that the team management will take a call his participation on match day. “He has been recovering. Hopefully, he will be in tomorrow.”
Tendulkar suffered the injury against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 13 and has since missed three games. Smith, however, was not entirely sure if the services of some of the batsmen including Tendulkar were being missed. “Cricket is a funny game because you can’t say that you missed anyone because they were not playing in the game. We had 11 there and I am sure we could have got there but we stumbled a bit,” he said on their last match which they lost to the Chennai Super Kings.
Smith also dismissed the notion that their team would be under more pressure than the Royals.
“It will be pressure for them too because they have to beat us to get there. It comes as any other match, our job is to go out there and perform. And I am sure we can fight it out and do our best.”
