Mumbai: Failures have been the path to remarkable success for Ripu Sudan Kundra, better known as Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra. Kundra, who has started a string of companies in the UK, all of which either shut down or went into liquidation, has now brought his serial entrepreneurial talents to India. He has started at least 18 ventures here, of which 11 are listed on his website.
The remaining seven have found no mention in Kundra’s public profile till date. Most of them are registered with an address on Turner Road in the posh suburb of Bandra West in Mumbai, according to data available with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
That address is the site of an apartment building. The flat in question, Number 201, in Devroop Building, houses a media company that does not belong to Kundra or his wife. This company has been at the address for two years now. Employees of this company said Kundra’s company was housed in the next building, which was the address for his public ventures.
However, there is no office at that address either. A family named Chopra now rents the apartment. The previous tenants moved out around two months ago without leaving a forwarding address.
Apart from Rajasthan Royals and the Super Fight League, only one company, Group Home Buyers, which was earlier in this apartment, now has an office at the World Trade Center building in Cuffe Parade in Mumbai and is clearly conducting its stated business.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
