Will look to finish off tail early: Ojha
Nagpur, Nov. 20: Pragyan Ojha has big plans but some of the tactics the team adopted on the opening day did not support them. Brendon McCullum was lucky to survive a confident appeal for caught behind but against a batsman who was not fully fit, the bowlers could have gone on to attack more.
“It would have been great to get all the wickets on the first day. The track had something in it for the spinners. It was all about discipline and I did my job,” said the left-arm spinner.
“We would like to finish off the tail and then put on a good lead so that we can put their batsmen under pressure in the second innings. I don’t think McCullum should be a problem as we have the tail-enders to attack at the other end,” added Ojha.
VETTORI DEFENSIVE
For skipper Daniel Vettori, things have not gone to plan after he won a toss. The moisture in the track suggested help for the seamers and the injury to Brendon McCullum added to his problems. “I was walking out for the toss when he went down. Brendon has a history of back spasms, they normally take a day to heal. As he is an important player, we took a chance.
“We wanted to bat out the day and have him come out in the middle order but unfortunately that didn’t happen.”
