The entire cricketing fraternity was shocked when the news of Yuvraj Singh’s illness broke out. Since then, the support has been pouring in for him from all corners of the cricketing world for a speedy recovery.

Yuvraj’s well-wishers received good news when the doctors treating him in the US said that Yuvi would be up and running in a couple of months.

Mohammed Kaif, who is one of Yuvraj’s closest pals, said he was stunned to know that the World Cup hero was diagnosed with cancer. Kaif is confident that the swashbuckling left-hander will come out stronger.

“I am happy that there is a complete cure for his illness. Yuvraj is a strong lad and he will come out of this fighting.

I wish him all the best and pray that he recovers quickly,” said Kaif, who is here for the Duleep Trophy.

Yuvraj and Kaif joined forces on many occasions in the past to pull India out of the woods. The best of the lot being the 2002 NatWest Triangular series final in England.

Kaif said Yuvraj and he have had many memorable outings off the field as well. “Yuvraj is a fun- loving character. He sees to that everybody around him has a hearty laugh.

He is also quite an emotional guy, though many think he has got an attitude problem.

These are people who do not know him well. Yuvraj is extremely caring and always takes care of his parents and friends,” added Kaif.

Piyush Chawla, who is leading Central Zone against South, said that Yuvraj would make a come back soon. “I spoke to Yuvi last night and he was extremely positive.

Being a warrior that he is, we are all confident that he will overcome this situation. Everybody knows what a great player Yuvi is. He is a real match-winner on his day,” said Piyush.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
