Zaheer Khan being treated by lady physio in South Africa
Pune, July 14: India's 32-year-old left-arm medium fast bowler, Zaheer Khan is being treated by a lady physiotherapist in Johannesburg.
Mrs. Debbie Davidson, the 41-year-old lady physio, one of the seven physios, working at the Centre for Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics (a member of the Netcare Group) is the only one dealing with the shoulder injury patients.
"Zaheer Khan came to me on Tuesday afternoon and has been advised to come this whole week. His injury doesn't seem to be serious and it may not be too long for him to recover", she said. "Zaheer, in his rehabilitation schedule, has been asked to do some exercises and also being given acupuncture treatment".
"His MRI report was examined by me and also Dr. Mark Fergusson before he went overseas and according to the doctor, Zaheer Khan requires no further surgery to his shoulder", she further added.
Last year in July, Zaheer Khan had an arthroscopic labral repair surgery in his left shoulder done by the Johannesburg-based Dr Mark Ferguson and had to remain out of game for few months. The doctor is scheduled to return to South Africa on Monday.
"Zaheer is likely to be here till Sunday. It is up to him to stay longer and get his shoulder examined by the doctor. However, Zaheer has been advised to come again in mid-August, before the Champions League in September, for the examination", the lady physio added.
Mrs. Debbie Davidson also treated India's Anil Kumble some seven years ago when Kumble was also operated upon by Dr. Fergusson. "I have been treating several South African cricketers and tennis players also on my patient list", the mother of two children, said before signing off.
