Grooming for the dance floor

Today, I wish to address a topic that is very personal, especially for male dancers. I know so many male dancers, who dance beautifully with very smart and classy form, be it western or Indian dances, they known it all. However, a major cause for concern that they have is dance costumes, especially when they have a hairy chest, hands or legs. If a male dancer has to expose his strong torso for an Indian dance sequence or his well-toned legs for a contemporary performance, he is as conscious of his body hair, as a woman would be of her upper lip or hairy hands.

I have listed below some simple tips for you to get rid of your hairy chest, hands, legs or even underarms.
Now, there are several accepted ways of hair removal, all of which are fairly easy and low cost. We men have learnt these techniques from women. Shaving, waxing and depilatory creams are the commonly used methods. However, to determine which one of these techniques is best for you, will entail trying them all yourself before deciding what suits you the most.
Having thick hair on your body can cause discomfort, hygiene issues, and in turn make you extremely conscious when you dance. Although shaving has been a popular preference for many years, it has some disadvantages. If you are going to shave yourself, you will need to be very skilled, any slips with the razor can cause cuts and bleeding. So be careful before you pick up a blade and run it over your graceful body.
If possible, make it easy on yourself by trimming the area with scissors or a clipper in advance. One thing you should never do is, to shave when your skin and hair are dry. This will end up tearing the hair out, and can cause severe irritation. If shaving seems like too much effort, then waxing is another option. You can wax yourself or have it done at a spa or salon.
Waxing delivers better and long lasting results, so you will not have to do it as frequently. When the hair grows back, it will usually be lighter and thinner than before. Waxing is not exactly comfortable, but it works and you will get used to it, especially when you have it done on a regular basis.
Another effective solution is depilatory creams, which are great for all parts of your body, particularly sensitive areas like the underarm. This type of cream is affordable, and can be easily applied at home, making them a very popular choice for everyone. The creams can remove the hair from below the surface of the skin.
So don’t feel shy any more, get all the unwanted hair out of the way, remember showing hair-free skin can make you look years younger, and will add to the sex appeal. So jump onto the dance floor with full vigour, and show the world that your clean body can move beautifully.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
