‘26/11’ NSG commando held with banned drug worth `1cr

The Delhi Police has arrested an NSG commando for his alleged involvement in drug trade. The accused, 27-year-old Kuldeep, who is a native of Alwar in Rajasthan, was arrested with an associate, identified as Naresh. Kuldeep claims to be a part of the NSG team which was deployed in Mumbai during the 26/11 terrorist attacks. Meanwhile, police officers have also claimed to have seized 26 kg of a banned hypnotic drug worth over `1 crore.

Kuldeep was arrested following a tip off on his whereabouts in Saket, south-Delhi, further said the police. The Delhi police officers have also informed the NSG about the arrest of the commando.
Investigating officers added that the banned contraband Methaqualone, a sedative-hypnotic drug that is similar in effect to barbiturates, a general central nervous system depressant, was processed in Pakistan and was to be delivered to a city-based high profile drug dealer.
A case has been registered under Sections 22, 25 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
“A policeman received an information that two men, including an NSG commando, would come to deliver the contraband. He informed his senior officers and a raiding team in plain clothes laid a trap,” confirmed the Delhi police. Kuldeep was on a motorcycle bearing a Rajasthan registration number while Naresh was riding another motorcycle with Haryana registration number when the two were apprehended.
The commando told the police that he was part of various NSG teams involved in fighting terrorists. “It was his wish to have quick money that drove him into drug trade,” the official claimed.
