‘BJP uproar ended session’
Delhi Assembly Speaker Yoganand Shastri on Tuesday blamed the Opposition BJP for premature adjournment of the House for indefinite period.
Dr Shastri stated that after the Opposition disturbed the proceedings of the House it was difficult for him to conduct the House in the days ahead.
The Assembly was rocked by the Shunglu Committee report, which named chief minister Sheila Dikshit and the Lt. Governor Tejinder Khanna for financial lapses in the CWG, with the Opposition creating din in the House.
“Although the sittings of the House were scheduled to be held up to March 31 and four short duration discussions were listed apart from Question Hour and Special Mention, but as you have also witnessed that the members of the Opposition disturbed the proceedings during the whole session for which I had to adjourn the House frequently,” Dr Shastri told reporters in a post-session press briefing.
He further stated that due to continued disruptions it became difficult to conduct proceeding of the House in the days ahead. “Besides this, the government also informed that no government business is pending for consideration, therefore, I adjourned the House sine die to prevent occurrence of any possible untoward situation,” added Dr Shastri.
The Speaker also expressed his displeasure at the Opposition raising the issue of the Shunglu Committee report in the House.
