‘Dowry demand’ claims life of pregnant woman
A 27-year-old newly married pregnant woman died under mysterious circumstances in Krishna Nagar area on Wednesday night.
The family members of deceased have alleged that she was ill-treated by her in-laws and harassed for dowry. A case has been registered with Krishna Nagar police station and an SDM inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
The police said the incident was reported on Thursday by the family members of deceased, identified as Megha Gupta, wife of Vipin Gupta. The police said Megha had got married with Gupta, a resident of H block in Krishna Nagar, in December 2009. “Just after her marriage, Megha was allegedly harassed for dowry,” the police official added.
“She was pregnant and despite knowing it, her in-laws used to treat her harshly. They did not offer her properly diet and better environment. Her condition was rapidly deteriorating. On Wednesday morning, she was rushed to a local clinic when her condition turned extremely critical. When the doctors at the clinic refused to handle her case, she was referred to Max hospital in Patparganj,” said Sonal, cousin of the deceased.
The parents of deceased live in Sector 31 of Faridabad. They were informed about the incident on Wednesday evening. On the basis of the complaint of the deceased’s family, the police has registered a case and post-mortem examination will be carried out at Subzi Mandi mortuary on Friday morning. The matter will be transferred for SDM enquiry after that.
