‘Drunk’ woman rams car into another, flees
A young woman, alleged to be in a drunken state, rammed her Volkswagen Passat into an Alto in R.K. Puram area of south Delhi on Friday night.
The incident took place at 12 pm near Sector 6, R.K. Puram. Police sources said that the accused woman lost control over her Volkswagen Passat and rammed it into an
Alto car. “After the accident, the accused woman escaped from the area, while her male accomplice and owner of the car, Karan Sehgal, a businessman, entered into an argument with the two victims, a young male and a female identified as Smistha, who were going to attend a Navratri function,” a senior police official said.
Smistha, who works in a private firm, suffered minor injuries in the incident. In the meantime, the police control room was alerted by a pedestrian at 12.10 am and a team of cops rushed to the spot. Smistha, a resident of Mahavir Enclave, alleged that the accused was driving on the wrong side of road and was speeding. She also told the cops that the woman was drunk and had escaped after ramming her car into her vehicle. “Karan, a resident of neighbouring Gurgaon, was sent for medical examination which confirmed that he had consumed alcohol. The two were returning from a pub in Vasant Vihar when the accident happened,” the official said. The parties negotiated the losses and resolved the matter without police interference.
