‘No extension of Blueline permits’
The Delhi high court on Wednesday refused a plea of Blueline bus operators seeking extension of permits of buses that expired Wednes-day morning. The Delhi government told the court that the passenger-carrying capacity of the public transport systems in the city was more than adequate and will be further enhanced by January 2011.
Appearing before a bench, headed by Justice A.K. Sikri, senior advocate K.T.S. Tulsi representing the Delhi government said that the DTC would acquire 220 more buses that would take the total number of buses to 6,457. There would be 15,785 buses (excluding Blueline) by January 2011, with passenger-carrying capacity of 1.02 crores per day.
