‘ONGC image improved among stakeholders’
The perception of ONGC has vastly improved among the stakeholders — investors, government, parliamentarians, ministry officials, DGH and general public — because of good boundary management by the organisation, said ONGC CMD R.S. Sharma during the concluding remarks at the two-day 9th ONGC Conclave held recently in Goa. Some of the positive steps taken by ONGC, like signing of an integrity pact with vendors, regular vendors’ meets, better vigilance administration and the media has helped in achieving a better perception about the organisation, added Mr Sharma.

Taking a U-turn, senior lawyer H.S. Phoolka, who announced withdrawing from all the 1984 anti-Sikh riots cases, on Wednesday deferred his decision till July 26.
Mr Phoolka’s decision came after the Akal Takhat — the top decision making body in the Sikh religion — on Wednesday asked the lawyer to continue appearing on behalf of the riot victims. Mr Phoolka had decided to withdraw from all the riot cases on Tuesday, following the allegations of “personal benefits” levelled against him by president of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.
Talking to this newspaper over phone Mr Phoolka said, “My decision to continue as a lawyer for the riot victims would continue till July 26, and on that day I will again take a decision on whether to continue the same or not.” He added that “I was telephoned by Jathedar Gyani Gurbachan Singh from Amritsar, who directed me to continue.”
