‘Probe PDS foodgrain diversion’
Delhi BJP chief Vijendra Gupta has sought a CAG inquiry into the diversion of foodgrain meant for the poor through the public distribution system (PDS) to black market. He alleged that the recovery of 1,700 foodgrain bags by the food and civil supplies department and the Delhi police on Friday is just a tip of iceberg in the PDS scam in the city.
“The blackmarketing of ration meant for PDS in south Delhi discovered by the police is only a tip of iceberg. The PDS in Delhi is under the control of ration mafia with the connivance of the government,” stated Mr Gupta.
“The blackmarketeers are looting crores of rupees every year by selling the PDS foodgrain. No action is being taken because politicians connected with Delhi government and officers were benefiting from the bungling,” Mr Gupta alleged.
“The irony is that in place of giving the credit to the police the Delhi food and civil supplies minister Haroon Yusuf claimed that the raid was conducted by enforcement department of food department,” claimed Mr Gupta, while demanding an enquiry into this lapse by the Delhi government.
