‘Salary hike of MLAs not rejected’
The Delhi government on Tuesday clarified that the Centre has not rejected the proposal of the salary hike of the city MLAs and ministers and in place has raised certain queries.
“It is clarified that the Government of India has not turned down the legislative proposal relating to amendment of “The Members of Legislative Assembly of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Salaries, Allowances, Pension etc.) Act, 1994” and “The Ministers of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Salaries and Allowances) Act, 1994”. Some queries have been raised regarding the proposal which is quite usual relating to proposal seeking approval of other constitutional authority,” a media release by the office of the chief minister stated.
The statement further stated that in the letter on October 25, the Centre has sought certain clarifications regarding these two proposals and in the letter dated November 9 it has been assured that on receipt of these clarifications the proposal would be processed expeditiously.
