‘Shift dairies or face contempt’
After seeing that the illegal dairies were not being shifted from the city, a division bench comprising Chief Justice of the Delhi high court Dipak Misra and Justice Manmohan on Wednesday slammed the MCD and directed the civic agency to complete the process of relocation of all illegal dairies from urban areas to Ghogha Dairy Colony within a year or face contempt of court charge.
Granting last opportunity to the MCD for shifting all illegal dairies, the division bench said, in case, the concerned officials fail to comply with the court’s order, they will have to face the contempt of court proceedings.
This is for the third consecutive time the MCD sought the extension of time for relocating the illegal dairies.
The court’s direction came after hearing an application filed by the MCD seeking extension of time for one more year claiming that the agency is developing Ghogha Dairy Colony where 2,080 plots are available and applications were sought from the dairy owners for allotment.
In another case, the Delhi high court on Wednesday dismissed the interim bail plea of Tariq Ahmed Dar, the prime accused in the 2005 Delhi serial blasts case, after noting that the present situation in Jammu and Kashmir is volatile and his going there would not be right at this critical juncture.
After hearing Dar’s plea, Justice Ajit Bharihoke dismissed his petition and said that the offence committed by Dar was grave.
Dar was arrested on November 10, 2005.
