‘Sub-standard material used in Games project’
Delhi BJP chief Vijendra Gupta on Thursday alleged that substandard materials were used in the construction of the Yamuna Sports Complex, which is a Commonwealth Games venue.
A Delhi BJP delegation led by Mr Gupta made a surprise inspection of the cricket, table tennis, volley ball, badminton premises situated in the Yamuna Sports Complex on Thursday. Due to heavy rains on July 12, the roof of the table tennis stadium was blown out because of substandard construction, Mr Gupta stated. “The BJP leaders saw that not only the roof of table tennis stadium was blown out but also the entire false ceiling fan had fallen down. The wooden floor was also spoiled. The delegation found that substandard material is openly being used in all the stadia,” Mr Gupta added.
He also alleged that the government officials tried to stop the delegation from entering into the stadium. “After great push and pull the team members could enter the stadium. Even the media is not being allowed to enter the sports premises,” Mr Gupta alleged.
