1 arrested for spurious drug supply
One person has been arrested by the south Delhi police for allegedly being involved in supplying spurious drugs, which also included life-saving medicines. The police has recovered 7,500 tablets of life saving tablets, Listril, besides other spurious drugs.
According to the police, the accused, later identified as Dharmender Singh, a resident of Agra, was arrested at Kidwai Nagar bus stand on Thursday evening following a tip-off. Apart from the Listril tablets, the police also recovered 60 units of Octride-100. These medicines were packed in small quantities and had counterfeit labels of two famous drug manufacturing companies.
During interrogation, Dharmender told the police that he was working as a courier boy for spare parts from shops in Lala Lajpat Rai Market in Old Delhi area to Heeng Wali Mandi in Agra. His childhood friend, Vinay, who is apparently into the spurious drug trade for the past decade, persuaded him to carry small quantities of spurious drugs to certain shopkeepers in various areas of the capital. He also gave Dharmender a commission for the same.
The police said that those dealing in spurious drugs have changed their modus operandi. Instead of sending spurious drug supplies in bulk, they are now engaging individuals to act as couriers.
