1 held for foreigner’s rape

After hours of interrogation and a race against time to gather clinching evidence, the police on Tuesday arrested Mohammed Ansari, alias Badshah, for the rape of a Spanish musician in her Bandra residence on Monday.
According to police sources, the accused has a history of burglary and is the same man who was earlier arrested for breaking into and stealing from the Bandra residence of actor Dino Morea. He was on bail when he committed the offence.

“Badshah was among the several suspects with a history of burglary that we picked up for questioning after the offence was registered. He was picked up from Reay Road and brought to the police station for questioning. The victim recognised him when we showed her his picture and he also had fresh scratch marks on his face and hands that he could not account for,” said a senior police officer who is part of the investigation.
Badshah has more than 20 cases of burglary registered against him in the Bandra-Khar belt and this was his first serious offence, the police said. The police is now working on recovering the booty that Badshah stole from the victim’s residence, as well as her clothes, which he took with him after raping her. His DNA samples will also be taken and sent for forensic analysis. Further inquiries have also revealed that Badshah wiped several spots in the victims house and even smoked two of her cigarettes before leaving.
The victim has told the police that she will be leaving for Germany to spend time with her parents.
