1-hr delay on Sarita Vihar Metro line
The services of the Delhi Metro on the Central Secretariat-Sarita Vihar line will begin one hour after the usual time from Sunday in order to facilitate the integration of the Sarita Vihar to Badarpur stretch. The line had been opened on the morning of October 3 (the day of Commonwealth Games opening ceremony) from Central Secretariat to Sarita Vihar, which is part of the Central Secretariat-Badarpur line, as a special measure in the wake of the CWG.
According to a DMRC spokesperson, beginning Sunday, the services on the line will begin at 7 a.m. instead of the usual 6 a.m to allow the DMRC’s engineers to integrate the signalling, telecommunication, electrical and track issues till Badarpur from Sarita Vihar. The delayed start of the service will remain in force till October 24. By the end of this month, the integration task is expected to be completed following which the services will begin at the normal 6 a.m. timing.
The opening of the line up to Sarita Vihar had come as a major boon for the organisers as nearly 38,000 people used it on the first day of its opening to reach the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium for the October 3 opening ceremony.
