10-year-old girl falls off hillock, dies
A minor girl allegedly fell to death from a hillock in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area on Sunday. The girl was playing with her friends.
Investigating officers confirmed that the incident took place in Rajauri hills in Vasant Kunj area at around 2.30 pm. The deceased has been identified as Mansi, 10, a Class 3 student at a local government school.
Sources said that it seemed the girl lost her balance and slipped off the hillock and fell 40 feet down when some sand beneath her feet gave way.
“The girl was playing with her friends. The sand below her feet gave way as she was running to the other side,” said a senior police officer. The girl was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead, said the police. The investigations do not point towards any possibility of foul play in the incident.

Cops advise bikers to carry papers
New Delhi, Jan. 16: Carry your original driving licence and copies of registration and insurance papers while riding a motorcycle in the capital or else your two-wheeler may get impounded. The Delhi Traffic police on Sunday started concentrating on violations by motorcyclists and during a drive, 5,209 motor cycles were checked.
The drive comes in the backdrop of a rise in crimes committed by motorcycle-borne criminals in the city.
“We prosecuted 1,880 people today and 15 motorcycles were impounded in absence of ownership proof,” said joint commissioner of police (traffic) Satyendra Garg.
“It is requested that those on motorcycles must have DL in original, a copy of RC and insurance papers to prove that the persons riding are genuine owners of the vehicle,” he said. —PTI
