100 screens to air Modi speech

The BJP is leaving no stone unturned for the success of Narendra Modi’s scheduled rally at Japanese Park in Rohini on September 29. The party is planning to put up 100 giant screens across the national capital and is inviting about 1 lakh people by invitation cards. These screens would telecast Narendra Modi’s speech in RWAs and Market associations.
Former Delhi BJP president and convenor of the rally organising committee, Vijender Gupta, said, “We have planned to set up at least 100 giant screens. Besides one screen in each of the 70 constituencies, arrangements for live telecast will be made in prominent markets and other prominent places that receive high footfall.” The rally is expected to be the biggest rally in the country, claimed Mr Gupta. The party is also planning a door-to-door campaign in order to ensure a large turnout of people at the rally. In addition to this, over three-dozen councillors including the mayor, deputy mayor and the Standing Committee chairman of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation are personally monitoring the preparations for the event.
The party held a meeting with top Delhi police officials, including joint commissioner of police, additional commissioner of police at the venue of the rally on Wednesday to take stock of the security and traffic arrangements for the rally, Mr Gupta said. “Preparations are in full-swing with BJP cadres mobilising people for the rally at the grass-root level. The party will depute about 5,000 volunteers to manage the gathering, Mr Gupta said.
A senior party leader said, “The Assembly elections in Delhi are not only fought on local issues. National issues like corruption, dwindling economy and price rise will be major issues that have been affecting all irrespective of class and creed. The Gujarat CM will highlight these issues.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
