1,600 Blueline buses go off roads today
Commuters in several areas in the city may face difficulty as 1,600 Blueline buses will go off the roads from Sunday. The buses are being shunted out from areas expected to be frequented by athletes, officials and visitors as part of city government’s efforts to “improve the image of the city” for Games.
Transport department officials said that the commuters will not face any hardships as almost equal number of low-floor buses will be deployed in areas from where Blueline buses are being removed. They said some Blueline buses will be allowed to ply on alternative routes while some others will have to restrict their movement to designated points.
Currently, nearly 2,400 Blueline buses are operating in the city. The government had earlier said the Blueline buses would be phased out before the Games. —PTI
