19-year-old girl kills self over exam stress

A 19-year-old girl committed suicide at her west Delhi residence on Monday evening, apparently due to fear of poor performance in examinations.
According to the police, the incident was reported by the authorities of Sanjay Gandhi Memorial hospital where the deceased, identified as Puja, was admitted by her p

arents on Monday evening. The police officials said Puja was found hanging from the ceiling fan inside a room at her residence in Nihar Vihar by her parents who broke open the door when Puja didn’t respond top their repeated knocking.
“Without informing the police, Puja’s parents rushed the girl to the hospital, where she was declared brought dead by the doctors. A team of police officials reached the hospital and the body was sent for post-mortem examination. The preliminary post-mortem examination report revealed that there were strain marks around the deceased’s neck and the report has indicated that Puja had possibly died due to hanging,” a senior police official said. The police said no suicide note has been recovered from the possession of the deceased.
The police officials said Puja had appeared in Class 12 board examination from National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). The official claimed that Puja was under depression after her exams were over.
