1K unauthorised colonies to get nocs, SAYS WALIA
The Delhi government came under heavy fire on the issue of regularisation of unauthorised colonies in the Assembly on Wednesday. The Opposition slammed the government over stopping the ongoing construction work in unauthorised colonies. The BJP alleged that government is using the regularisation agenda only to lure the voters.
However, the Delhi urban development minister Dr A.K. Walia said that they have identified 1,018 unauthorised colonies for “No Objection Certificate” and the process of regularisation will start soon. Mr Walia also defended officers for stopping construction in unauthorised colonies whose maps are pending clearance by the ASI, MCD and other departments.
“We have identified 1,018 colonies for the NOC as they were found fit on the parameters of existence in 2002 and above 50 per cent population in 2007. Maps of 733 colonies were already made and we have got 285 more maps from different agencies. The issue of legalisation of such colonies is pending from a long time and we are committed to regularise such colonies,” Dr Walia said.

Lawyers to strike in all six district courts today: Bar

Lawyers of the six district courts have been asked to abstain from work on Thursday by a coordination panel of the bar associations to press their demand for transfer of property cases from the Delhi high court to trial courts.
“Tomorrow, none of the lawyers will appear in any of the district courts, as the issue is very important,” said Rajiv Khosla, spokesperson of the co-ordination committee of the bar associations of all the six district courts.
“The co-ordination committee is of the strong view that speedy justice can only be available to the litigants if the trial of original side cases (of the high court) is conducted only at district courts,” he added.
Mr Khosla said the lawyers of all the six district court premises, Tis Hazari, Patiala House, Karkardooma, Saket, Dwarka and Rohini, will abstain from the work on Thursday.
The spokesperson further added they would also meet chief minister Sheila Dikshit and union law minister Salman Khurshid for transfer of the original pecuniary jurisdiction of the high court to district courts.
