New Delhi, Sept. 25

The Delhi high court on Wednesday deferred to October 1 the arguments on confirmation of the death penalty given to four persons in the December 16 gangrape and murder case. A bench of justices Reva Khetrapal and Pratibha Rani directed the police to supply the necessary set of documents to the convicts after their counsels submitted that they did not have the same set of documents with which prosecution will present the case before it. The bench then decided to hear the matter on October 1. The bench also asked the registry to furnish a translation of the victim’s dying declaration from Hindi to English language and relevant statements of witnesses under Section 161 and 164 CrPC. It said in case the parties needed any other document, they could either inform the court or the registry.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
