2 burglars caught in ex-CM’s house
At least two burglars, who had managed to enter a house belonging to former Delhi chief minister Madan Lal Khurana, were caught red-handed thanks to the presence of mind of the security guard. The incident was reported from Kirti Nagar in west Delhi late on Tuesday night.
According to the police, at least three persons managed to break into a house where the former CM used to stay. However, when the burglars were inside the house, the security guard managed to get a wind of it and locked the main door from outside. In the meantime, he also called up one of the family members of Mr Khurana. The police was also subsequently informed. As the duo tried to catch the three thieves, one of them managed to escape. One of the thieves also apparently tried to injure the family member of Mr Khurana but he luckily escaped. However, two others — later identified as Suresh and Ajit — were caught and handed over to the police. They were also reportedly thrashed before being handed over to the police. The police said Mr Khurana would come to this house only occasionally to use it for office purposes. “The burglars could not take anything away,” said the official.
A case has been registered at Kirti Nagar police station and efforts are on to identify the third accused, who is absconding. The police is also trying to ascertain the other involvements of the arrested accused.
