2 cops among four hurt in car mishaps
An inebriated youth and his female partner were critically injured when a speeding Chevrolet Cruze car crashed into a tree on Krishna Menon Marg in Parliament Street area on Wednesday night. Police sources said the speed of the car was so great that the tree was uprooted and the car badly mangled.
Sources revealed that the victims, identified as Kavit and Rashmi Chaddha, both inebriated, were returning from a bar in New Delhi area to their Rohini residences when the accident took place. The speeding car crashed into a tree after Kavit lost control over it. The accident happened at around 3 am on Thursday.
The police was informed by a security guard and the two were taken to RML Hospital. Both are in a critical state. “Their statement have not been recorded so far,” a police official said.
In another incident, two Delhi police personnel were injured when a speeding Honda City car driven by a woman rammed into their bike near Rail Bhavan in Parliament Street area on Thursday morning.
The police said the victims Devki Nandan and Rakesh were going towards the Parliament Street police station on a bike when the speeding car rammed their vehicle. The two constables fell down and one is reported to have suffered a fracture in his leg.
The police control room was alerted by a passerby following which the police arrived at the spot and the woman was taken to the police station where a case was registered against her.
Her car was impounded. She later managed to get bail.
