2 held for cheating woman in property deal
An employee of a Delhi-based finance company and his accomplice were arrested for allegedly cheating a woman of crores of rupees in a land deal, said the police.
Mukul Bhimani, an employee of a city-based finance company, and Tony Thomas, a resident of Gurgaon, were arrested on a complaint filed by one Nirmala Modi of Delhi.
She alleged that Thomas had approached her for sale of a property at DLF (Phase-I) Gurgaon and told her that he had taken a loan from a bank against the said property and will repay the loan amount when he receives the payment from her after executing the sale deed.
When the deal was finalised, the complainant made the payment to Thomas and he handed over her No Dues Certificate issued by the bank stating that the loan received by him has been returned.
“Later, on verification from the bank, the complainant came to know that an amount of `1 crore 17 lakhs is still outstanding against the property and the NOC submitted by Thomas was forged,” the police said.
